New lessons learnt on Fri 13th

Dear Mina,

I'm writing to let you know that you almost screwed up your whole TIS career today. And it was not necessary.

Ok you were travelling at light speed to your deadline and you had only 5 minutes left and the blessed TPG network blacked out and skype luckily hanged in there. You had three options: A. Skype the files to W to be fwded; B. use "filetransfer" app to upload it to iphone and send thru 3G; C. knocking on your neighbours' doors in pajamas and messy sweat-soaked hair like a true mental.

You chose:
1. Skyped the file to W and ask him to fwd using your email account and got very upset and even more panicky when he couldn't get your password right;
2. then you freaked out, you checked the "file transfer" app but decided that it was too complicated to try out. And you decided to go out to the neighbours in a hurry and almost forgot sending W the password.
3. And while putting on an overcoat and a pair of jeans to cover up your pajamas with trembling fingers you msged him the password which took more time than to skype him and you didn't realize; you panicked and ran out bare-feeted and knocked on the doors both up and downstairs.
4. You caught a group of new ppl walking out of a newly sold unit and asked if they could lend you your internet. You almost cried when they said they were leaving but they turned back to settle it for you. And W called you which you ignored. However, they are also using the fucked up TPG and told you that the network in this area was f**ked lated...You thanked them (one point up for not forgetting to thank others when in destress) and left.
5. You returned and found that the files were sent by W and you let out a huge sigh, but luckily you had the habit of checking your sent emails. You went in and found that it was the wrong version. Now you tramped the deadline by 10 minutes. You resent it.
6. Now you could totally relax and you checked the "file transfer" app, it took you 5 seconds to connect and another 5 to upload the phone to your 3G network.

Now you REALLY REALLY wanted to cry.

If the clock can be wound back to the 5 minutes to the dl, you should've done this:
1. TAKE A (OR TWO IF YOU NEED) DEEP BREATH;
2. determine that A has the best merit and least risk, however Skype could be your ruin since it also depended on the damned network; B potentially is the most effecient way but the risk lies in your inability to learn to use it under pressure; C should be your last resort.
3. Therefore, the most sensible way is to give B a one minute shot (remember to take more deep breaths and that you are calm and focusing before you try that); then if B failed, you still had 4 minutes to do A and typing your password on skype or msg isn't going to take an eon; then you will be able to review the sent files and sort out the last bit of mess well before or maybe 1 minute pass the deadline.
4. Now you didn't have to run out barefeeted with your pajamas hidden hideously under your husband's overcoat and knocked on all the doors of your building with a psychotic frenzy while fighting back your fears and tears. (it was good that you remembered to take your keys!!! Imagine if you didn't, you wouldn't be able to send that correct version after all. Big big risk!)

Really all you had to do is "take a deep breath" and think - really think & analyze under pressure. Trust me, it will make your & others' life a lot easier.

Now, it would be so much better if you always check the attachment before NOT AFTER pushing that "send" button!!!

Your dearest,
The other Mina
