untitled

A good thing about having blinds instead of curtains in a east-facing bedroom is that the sun always finds its way in and awakens you at the same time. So you get up, drink your first cup of water, pull up the blinds and bathe in the sun for 10 minutes to get your daily vitamin D. And amongst all things, you typewrite, and gather your thoughts for a thoughtful day.

You also once lived behind an eastward window which in turn overlooked an eastward valley on the mountains of an eastern country. The sun, you know the same yet distinctly different sun, rose from the depth of the valley, between the joint of two smaller hills and past the dewy green of the bamboo grove. You would wake up to the sound of the clearing of dry throats, the breakfast being made, and the minor arguments that began the morning. You felt oddly reassured that somehow someone else was responsible for your life. And all you had to do was to feel blessed.
