Here's a summary on my interpreting practice with 19 days left before the 2nd exam.
1. Notetaking
Weaknesses: adjectives, adverbs, numbers
Improving: conjunctions, transitions
Strategy: a) take lists and numbers in original language without mental translation; b) take conjunctions as they are; c) mentally translate adverbs describing degrees and adjectives if possible to strengthen impression
Girdlines: a) vertical notes with indent increase; b) one verticle line separate subj. from followon contents;
2. Concentration
Blind spots: tendency to ignore non-nouns, adverbs, units for numbers etc
Numbers: must be in number-ready mode
Strategy: mentally translate non-nouns, adverbs to strengthen memory; take down numbers as they are.
3. Glossaries
Blackholes: units, medical instrument, law?, economics
----
Practice makes perfect.
