Water and impurities in it

If I have the conviction that the mind is inherently pure and smooth like a body of water and that all the crazy ambitions, perceptions of the past and the future, the mood swings, emotional storms and negativities are the impurities like soils and sands within it, then I'm blessed with the knowledge that my mind is inherently free and separate from the poplution and that it is essentially calm and prestine. Instead of riding an emotional storm, stir up all those impurities and mix them with the mind, I will calmly observe from the inherently pure mind itself this whirlpool of impurities circling around me and know that they are completely tameable and not to be of any harm. The simplest thing to do is to sit down and observe from the inherently purity of my mind.
